Residence Inn by Marriott Fort Lauderdale Plantation

The standards have really fallen to unacceptable levels. I have been a long-time customer for many years, I only stay at the Marriott but I think this will be my first and last stay here at this property. The cleaning service of the 6 days I stayed, it was twice and the second time not even my son's bed was fixed, they didn't even pass a vacuum cleaner, the floor remained greasy because I had made food, which is definitely not what I expected, I felt in a dirty and dark place my husband even killed a cockroach. I always had the Marriott as an excellence in cleanliness, comfort and cordiality. My son got sick at night and I had to take off the sheet and blanket, but the reception said to wait until the next day because they had no blankets and as for the sheets, they had no one to take; so my husband went to pick it up, because I couldn't wait to continue sleeping only the next day, when the sheet and blanket arrived. Some people on the team (count on the finger) were friendly, but the rest.... They barely look at you, they're rude most of the time. I was not informed at check-in and to my surprise; I was charged for receiving some purchases at the hotel.... $5.00 per box, I went to question because in all these years that I ONLY STAY IN MARRIOTT NEVER CHARGED ME FOR RECEIVING PURCHASE, the reception simply looked at me and replied that unfortunately it is a policy of that property and there is nothing to do! I didn't find this information anywhere on the website, politics, etc. I understand that there may be adjustments to facilitate operating expenses, but cleaning and sanitation should never be compromised. Even more so after a COVID, dirty, dusty phones without being cleaned since the end of the pandemic; which should remain all the care of the pandemic. Great location for everything but it's not worth it; unfortunately

We stayed here for 6 days in the one bedroom suite. The staff work hard and were very friendly and helpful. It’s an older facility that has been given a recent facelift. It seems to be on the upswing. The pool area with basketball court, bbq and fire pit is great. Gives it a resort feel. Unfortunately the hot tub heater was broken. They were trying to have it fixed but it was the holidays so no go. However, they offered complimentary entry to a neighbouring hotel to use its hot tub. It’s your typical hotel hot breakfast each morning. Coffee and hot chocolate served all day. We’d return.

Terrible customer service. I am a gold member with Marriott and booked my room (1 bedroom suite) weeks in advance, even prepaid. When I arrived I was greeted by a lady who 100% did not want to be there and acted as if I was bothering her. When I said I was checking in she made a noise with her mouth and said "we are overbooked and have no rooms" I said how could that be I booked weeks ago? In return I got "well a group came in and booked and our system must of not updated so were booked, there is another hotel not far from us" Wow.... I said my Marriott loyalty means nothing, and I this was the best Her: It is what it is..... Well I am done with Marriott... Thank You David L.

If your looking a room for a night, this will do, but I wouldn't stay here for any longer then that. Pros: staff was very nice, and the location was fantastic for a concert at the Hard Rock Casino. Cons: the facility was very run down, in desperate need of refurbishment. The elevator in building two had broken and exposed electrical, and someone did a number on the button plate on the first floor(I included pics of this as I feel this is a potential safety hazard). Our first room had ants (this is Florida, so not shocking), our second room had taken a lot of abuse. Lights were damaged, or didn't work. The carpet and couch had numerous stains. We were missing an alarm clock, and a TV remote, and a handfull of dishes. Housekeeping had not done a thorough job, trash in corners, food left in fridge, surfaces not well cleaned. Overall, this property is not up to the Marriott standard, and should be avoided.

The first room had millipedes….. moved us to another room. It has little black ants. No manger on duty on the weekend. No Blankets. If you need anything you have to go to the front desk to get it your self. Most of the staff was extremely nice. But will never be staying here again. Definitely wouldn’t recommend. Also ice make ( which didn’t work) and AC sound like a freight train. Fire detectors flash ALL NIGHT. TV in the bedroom was unplugged. Very disappointed

The water dispensers were out of water, and the desk clerk had no intention of filling them. I would have happily waited. She wasn't friendly at all. Pull out bed had one sheet and 1 pillow. We called the front desk and was told, "We'll send what we have." They eventually did. The flyer on the frig had oral sex drawings done with marker by previous customer. Terrible.
